The objective of this study is to assess the level of knowledge and attitudes regarding cervical cancer and the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine among women residing in Mukalla City, Yemen. The study aims to identify gaps in awareness and misconceptions that may impact the acceptance and uptake of cervical cancer prevention measures. Understanding these factors will help inform targeted public health interventions to improve cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccination coverage in this population.

Residents of Mukalla City, Yemen.
Women capable of providing informed consent to participate.
Women with no prior diagnosis or treatment for cervical cancer.

Women with a history of cervical cancer or precancerous cervical lesions.

A cross-sectional study was conducted from June to August 2023 among 425 women aged 18 years and older in Mukalla City, Yemen. Participants were recruited via convenience sampling from primary healthcare centers and three major malls. Pregnant women and those with a history of cervical cancer were excluded. Data were collected using an interviewer-administered, pre-tested questionnaire assessing sociodemographics, knowledge, and attitudes towards cervical cancer and HPV vaccination. Trained healthcare personnel ensured uniform data collection. Descriptive statistics and multivariate logistic regression were used to analyze associations between sociodemographic factors and knowledge or attitudes. SPSS version 26 was utilized for data analysis.
