The objective of this study is to evaluate and compare the impact of different scleral incision types straight, frown, and chevron on visual outcomes and surgically induced astigmatism (SIA) in patients undergoing manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS). By analyzing the postoperative visual acuity and changes in corneal curvature, the study aims to determine which incision geometry offers the most favorable outcomes in terms of minimizing astigmatism and optimizing visual recovery. This is particularly relevant for resource limited settings where access to postoperative refractive correction is often restricted.

"1- Surgically Induced Astigmatism (SIA):
- Quantified by the difference in keratometric values pre- and postoperatively.
- Compared across the three incision types (straight, frown, chevron).
2- Postoperative Visual Acuity:
- Uncorrected Visual Acuity (UCVA) and Best-Corrected Visual Acuity (BCVA) at 30 days post-surgery.
- Used to assess functional visual recovery."

Adults aged 40 to 80 years.
Diagnosed with age-related cataract.
Scheduled for manual small incision cataract surgery (MSICS).
Preoperative visual acuity < 1/10 (Snellen equivalent).
Provided written informed consent.
Surgery performed at CHU-IOTA, Bamako, Mali under a standardized protocol.
除外基準/Key exclusion criteria

Pre-existing corneal abnormalities.
Irregular astigmatism.
History of ocular surgery in the operated eye.
Any condition that would interfere with accurate keratometric or visual assessment.
