歯科医院を受診した人に対し、指尖から血糖値測定と、口腔内検査を施行する。空腹時血糖値が100 mg/dL以上、または非空腹時血糖値が140 mg/dL以上であった場合を血糖値スクリーニング陽性と定義し、共同研究機関の内科へ紹介する。内科でHbA1c値の測定と経口ブドウ糖負荷試験を施行し、糖尿病や境界型糖尿病の診断を行う。

In dental clinic patients, blood glucose levels are measured from the fingertip, and an oral examination is performed. Blood glucose screening is considered positive if fasting blood glucose is 100 mg/dL or higher, or if non-fasting blood glucose is 140 mg/dL or higher. Patients with positive blood glucose screening are referred to a collaborating medical institution's internal medicine department. In the internal medicine department, HbA1c levels are measured, and an oral glucose tolerance test is performed to diagnose diabetes or prediabetes.
