脳死下臓器提供が比較的多く行われている施設が参加する多機関共同後ろ向き研究を実施し、脳死下臓器提供が行われた症例を対象として、患者背景や管理方法、更に施設の体制や特徴を調査することにより脳死下臓器提供に至るまでのプロセスを明らかにすることを目的とする。

ドナーとなりうる患者の認識、脳死特有の生理学的変化を念頭に置いた適切な患者管理、適切な終末期医療を提供するための多職種を交えたチーム体制作り、脳死とされうる状態、法的脳死判定から摘出に至るまでの施設の体制整備に関連する情報を収集する。
