我が国は急速に高齢化を迎え、医療費や介護費の増大、医師不足などの医療を取り巻く問題が山積している。解決策の一つとして、薬剤師の疾病予防分野への参画が求められている。しかしながら、疾病予防分野に薬学生や薬剤師が積極的に関わる機会は少なく、その教育手法も全く確立できていない。このような医療状況の変革に対応できるような高資質で先導的な次世代薬剤師の教育および輩出は薬学部に課せられた使命のひとつである。
そこで、長崎大学薬学部は、ニューメキシコ大学と長崎県薬剤師会と協力して薬学生及び薬局薬剤師対象の心房細動の研修プログラムを実施し、不整脈とその治療についての基礎知識の習得や、心電図判読、受診勧奨など不整脈臨床判断スキルの向上を目指し、講義と実習による基礎トレーニングを実施し、その効果を検証する。

Japan's population is rapidly aging, and problems surrounding healthcare are piling up, such as increasing medical and nursing care costs and a shortage of physicians. As one of the solutions, pharmacists are required to participate in the field of disease prevention. However, there are few opportunities for pharmacy students and pharmacists to be actively involved in the field of disease prevention, and no educational methods have been established. It is one of the missions of the Faculty of Pharmacy to educate and produce highly qualified, leading pharmacists of the next generation who can respond to such changes in the healthcare situation.
The Nagasaki University School of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the University of New Mexico and the Nagasaki Pharmaceutical Association, has implemented a training program on atrial fibrillation for pharmacy students and pharmacy pharmacists to provide basic knowledge of arrhythmia and its treatment, and to improve clinical judgment skills in arrhythmia such as ECG interpretation and recommendation for consultation. The training will be conducted and its effectiveness will be verified.

ニューメキシコ州は薬剤師の職域が広く、薬物治療から疾病予防に至るまで幅広く地域住民の健康をサポートしている。そのためニューメキシコ大学薬学部と、薬学生や薬剤師に対する臨床教育手法を共有化することで、日本でも高い臨床能力を備えた薬剤師の育成が可能である。
長崎大学薬学部は、2019年に、長崎県薬剤師会と協力して、ニューメキシコモデルを導入した学生主体の不整脈スクリーニングイベントを実施した。スクーニングイベントではオムロン携帯型心電計を使って、40名の被験者の中から2名の脈拍異常者を発見することができた。アンケート調査から、被験者や薬学生が本不整脈スクリーニングイベントを薬剤師教育プログラムとして有用であると感じていることが示唆された。しかしながら、このスクリーニングイベントでは、携帯型心電計に表示されたメッセージから異常と判定しただけであったため、今後、高資質な薬剤師養成プログラムとして実施していくには改善の必要がある。

Sharing clinical education methods for pharmacy students and pharmacists with the University of New Mexico School of Pharmacy, which supports the health of local residents, will enable the development of highly clinically competent pharmacists in Japan.
In 2019, Nagasaki University School of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Nagasaki Pharmaceutical Association, implemented a student-led arrhythmia screening event that introduced the New Mexico model. The screening event used an Omron portable electrocardiograph to detect two subjects with abnormal pulse rates out of 40 subjects. The questionnaire survey suggested that subjects and pharmacy students found this arrhythmia screening event useful as a pharmacist education program. However, since this screening event only identified abnormalities based on the messages displayed on the portable electrocardiograph, there is a need for improvement if it is to be implemented as a highly qualified pharmacist training program in the future.

研究対象者に対し、心房細動理解度テストおよび自己評価アンケートを研修プログラム前、その後はスクリーニングイベント前のタイミング、つまり約半年ごとに定期的に行う。研究者は、テスト結果や自己評価の変化を解析する。研修プログラムの進行に伴い、有意に上昇すれば、知識定着、理解向上、技能向上の観点で教育効果があったと評価できる。

The Atrial Fibrillation Comprehension Test and Self-Assessment Questionnaire will be administered to the study subjects periodically before the training program and thereafter at pre-screening event timing, i.e., approximately every six months. Researchers will analyze changes in test results and self-assessments.
