無臭の基本味は嗅覚が遮断されても味の識別力は低下しないと考えられ，日常に食するにおいのある飲食物は嗅覚が遮断されると味の識別力が低下することが示唆された。

The results suggested that odorless basic tastes do not lose their taste discriminability when the sense of smell is deprived, and that the taste discriminability of everyday odorous foods and beverages is reduced when the sense of smell is deprived.
