選択基準/Key inclusion criteria	①30～70歳代の健常者であり血液生化学的検査項目で異常が認められない方。 ②60～90歳代の健常者であり血液生化学的検査項目で異常が認められない方。また、認知機能の指標であるMMSEが20点以上の方。	(1) A healthy individual in 30s to 70s who has no abnormalities in blood biochemical test items. (2) Healthy persons in 60s and 90s who have no abnormalities in blood biochemical test items. Also, those who have a MMSE score of 20 or higher, which is an index of cognitive function.
除外基準/Key exclusion criteria	認知症治療薬、 EPA・EPA+DHA製剤、を日常的に多く摂取している方、抗酸化物質やn-3脂肪酸などの健康食品を常用している方。また、その他疾病の関係で参加が難しい方。	Participants with any medical disorder, including osteoporosis; hepatic, renal, respiratory, or cardiac disease; those with metabolic, endocrine, cardiac, diabetes mellitus, or hematological diseases; those on supplements or medicines to treat bone diseases or to prevent osteoporosis that might significantly influence the results of the study; smokers and those with allergies, and/or hypersensitivity were excluded.

主な結果/Results	12か月間のエゴマ油（PO）摂取により、うつ指標とやる気スコアの改善が確認された。また、POの摂取により血清中のノルエピネフリンやセロトニン濃度が低下した。さらに、POの長期摂取は赤血球膜のα-リノレン酸（LNA）含量を増大させた。うつ指標ややる気スコアは赤血球膜LNA濃度と有意な正の相関を示した。以上の結果から、12か月間のPO摂取が血中LNAレベルを高め、健常成人の精神状態を維持する可能性が示された。	Depression and apathy score improved significantly in the Perilla seed oil (PO) group. Compared to those of control group, serum norepinephrine and serotonin levels after 12 months decreased in the PO-administered group. The enhanced mental state observed in PO-subjects was accompanied by alpha-linolenic acid level increases in erythrocyte plasma membranes. These results suggest that PO intake enhances blood LNA levels and may maintain healthy mental conditions in adult subjects.
