Attempt of e-Learning to Study Family Assessment for Public Health Nurse

Purpose: A tutorial website was created and an e-Learning pilot study was carried out in order to improve the family assessment capabilities of public health nurses. The objective of this research was to clarify the current status and challenges of e-Learning-based study in current public health nurse training.
Method: The target participants were 10 anonymous public health nurses who voluntarily agreed to take part in e-Learning. The participants watched case study videos, and then responded to six contents based on that video. The period of study was 35 days. The participants used a username and password to access the cloud-based web service.
Result: Of the 10 registered participants, three did not take part. The seven that did take part were public health nurses with between 1 and 19 years of experience. On average, they had 4.6 years of experience and were 29.4 years old. Four participants viewed two videos, two participants viewed five videos, and one participant viewed six videos. The videos were accessed 30 times at an average of 4.3 times per person. 33% of the time, the access period was between 9PM to 12AM.
Conclusion: Nurses with less experience were more interested in e-Learning, and the content was accessed more at night than during the day. One of the challenges is thought to be the burden of completing all six videos within five weeks.
