J-STARS研究（NCT00221104）にすでに登録され、追跡調査が継続されている患者を対象とし、脳梗塞の再発ならびに認知症の進行に関与する遺伝子の存在を明確にすることで、脳卒中の発症や再発に対するより正確な診断および治療法の確立に寄与する。
